Greek-Cypriots living in the United States filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Government demanding U.S. $ 170bn for the occupation of Cyprus.

The lawyer of Washington County Circuit Court Athan Tsimpedes filed a suit on religious and ethnic cleanings on behalf of Greek-Cypriots.

As NEWS.am reported previously, the representatives of the Armenian Diaspora of U.S. filed a suit against the Turkish government and two major Turkish banks-the Central Bank of Turkey and T.C., Ziraat Bankas, demanding compensation for real estate and property, including priceless artifacts presently housed in the Turkish museums.

The size of compensation might reach billions of dollars, Associated Press reported. The lawsuit was filed by Garbis Davouyan (Los Angeles) and Hrayr Turabian (New York).

According to the lawyers, it is the first case when a lawsuit is filed directly against the Turkish government.
