YEREVAN. – The Minister of Justice of Armenia, Hovhannes Manukyan, on Wednesday received Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.
De Boer-Buquicchio, reflecting on the objectives of their visit to Armenia, underscored the need to collaborate with the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, and within the framework of her mandate, informed the ministry press service. The OHCHR special rapporteur noted that they will study the Armenian law issues with respect to children’s rights.
Manukyan, for his part, agreed with the Armenian justice ministry’s pivotal role in the protection of children’s rights. He also presented the ministry’s basic commitments in this context.
The parties reflected on the separate legislative solutions which will be aimed at ensuring the interests of the child during criminal proceedings.
The interlocutors also discussed several other related matters.
