By the end of July, 2010, the minimum monthly cost of consumer’s basket had reached 41,052 AMD (U.S. $111), and that of food basket 26,485 AMD (U.S. $71.5). The RA Statistical Service reports that the standards of the RA Ministry of Agriculture were use in calculations. According to the standards, a person needs 250 grams of bread, 200 grams of milk 25 grams of cheese, 250 grams of potatoes, 200 grams of fruit, half an egg, 5 grams of sugar, etc...

The aforementioned standards are different from the WB standards based on polls of households. According top them socially vulnerable sections of Armenia’s population consume more bread (489 grams a day per capita), and sugar (21.7 grams per capita) and less fruit (about 100 grams), vegetables (202 grams) and eggs (1/3 per capita). According to these standards, the minimum monthly cost of food basket is 21,330 AMD (U.S. $57.6) and that of the consumer’s basket 33,060 AMD (U.S. $89).
