YEREVAN: The number of Armenian schoolchildren has decreased by 8 thousand during 3 academic years, Armenia’s Education Deputy Minister Karine Harutyunyan said in the parliament on Monday.
“Naturally, this has to do with the decrease in birthrate. Of course, increase in birthrate and reduction of migration flows can solve this problem. But, as you understand, the Ministry of Education cannot solve it alone,” she said.
Nevertheless, the Ministry does its best to improve the situation, Harutyunyan said. Thus, in 2014 the state funded the summer holidays of 4,5 thousand schoolchildren.
