After the lifting of international sanctions against Iran, the country may use the Russia-developed “Turkish Stream” natural gas pipeline—from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea—to export its gas to Europe, should Iran consider this route the most convenient.

The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Director for International Affairs, Azizollah Ramezani, told the aforesaid to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

Ramezani added, however, that no respective negotiations are underway.

He noted that once the international sanctions are lifted, Iran will study five to six routes.

“We need to take the economic expediency into account and decide on the best route,” the NIGC official concluded.
