YEREVAN. - The delegation headed by the Czech Republic Constitutional Court President Pavel Rychetský visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex Tsitsernakaberd in Yerevan on Wednesday.

Pavel Rychetský has arrived in Armenia upon the invitation of his Armenian counterpart Gagik Harutyunyan.

The Czech guests were accompanied by Constitutional Court Member Arevik Petrosyan. Pavel Rychetský also visited the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and laid flowers at the eternal fire in memory of the innocent victims of the first genocide of the 20th century.

Responding to the question on Turkey’s denial policy, Rychetský told Armenian News – NEWS.am that many processes in Turkey violate the democratic principles even nowadays; people are kept in prisons without fair trial and journalists are detained.  “Personally I don’t understand why Turkey refrained from reacting to the situation throughout a decade. Generations have already changed, but Turkey’s stance has remained unchanged. Turkey needs to follow the example of Germany, which could accept its own history after the WWII and draw [corresponding] lessons,” Pavel Rychetský said.
