The Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, on Friday received the Iranian Supreme Leader’s representative on Hajj (Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca) affairs, Seyyed Ali Ghazi Askar.

Karekin II reflected on historical ties between the two nations. Also, the Catholicos spoke appreciatively about the close cooperation between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and Iranian Embassy in implementing cultural and religious education programs.

Seyyed Ali Ghazi Askar, for his part, stated that there are warm and exemplary relations between Armenia and Iran. The Iranian Supreme Leader’s representative also noted, with appreciation, the valuable role played by Iran’s Armenian community.

The interlocutors reflected, with concern, on the present-day challenges that leave their destructive impact on all mankind.

In addition, Karekin II and Seyyed Ali Ghazi Askar underscored the joint efforts for the benefit of a peaceful and harmonious coexistence as well as the strengthening of the spirit of tolerance and cooperation.
