The Police of Armenia received a report, on Friday at 11:10pm, from a hospital.

Accordingly, ten residents of Vahan village in the Gegharkunik Province had requested medical assistance for food poisoning.

Another report was received on Saturday at 3:30am, according to which six more residents of the same village had asked for medical assistance for food poisoning.

The circumstances are being ascertained, and an investigation is underway.

Separately, the State Service for Food Safety (SSFS) informed that the Gegharkunik Provincial Center received a distress call, on Saturday at 9:15am, from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Accordingly, several Vahan village residents were transferred to the Chambarak town health center, and with symptoms of poisoning.

The Ministry of Health informed that the hospitalized persons had eaten mulberries, which they had purchased Friday from the same person.

Upon receiving the distress call, the SSFS inspectors visited Vahan village immediately, took the necessary measures, and sent the mulberries to the laboratory for examination.

The service specialists continue working on the spot.
