Armenia’s Ambassador to Iran, Artashes Tumanyan, on Wednesday met with chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (parliament) of Iran.
Boroujerdi expressed satisfaction with the high level of Armenian-Iranian political discourse and interparliamentary cooperation. He also particularly stressed the role of the Armenian community of Iran.
Ambassador Tumanyan, for his part, spoke about the high level of Armenian-Iranian relations, and the need for intensifying economic relations. The diplomat also thanked the Iranian authorities for their warm disposition towards the Armenian community and special care towards the Armenian historical and cultural monuments in Iran.
The interlocutors discussed regional matters, and they expressed concern by the spread of extremism and terrorism in the Middle East.
Ambassador Tumanyan highlighted the need for resolving regional issues solely through political means, and the respective constructive and balanced policy Armenia has adopted.
