YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Thursday discussed trade and economic ties during his meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rahimpour who is in Armenia for the meeting of inter-governmental commission.

Armenia and Iran have traditionally friendly and mutually beneficial relationship, Minister Nalbandian said welcoming the guest.

Thanking for the reception, Mr. Rahimpour conveyed greetings from the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. He stressed that Iran attaches importance to the strengthening of friendly relations and deepening of cooperation with Armenia.

The interlocutors discussed steps towards the development of Armenian-Iranian trade and economic cooperation. In this regard, the possibility of implementing joint projects in transport and energy spheres was noted.

The also sides exchanged views on international and regional issues.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister briefed the Armenian Minister on the recent developments around the Iranian nuclear program.   Edward Nalbandian, for his part, presented the efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
