YEREVAN. - International experts may carry out forensic-psychiatric examination with regard to the case of Julietta Amarikyan, Armenian citizen who spent one month in a psychiatric hospital, being discharged from there upon an alert received by Helsinki Citizens Assembly Vanzadzor Office. 

Amarikyan’s attorney Tigran Hayrapetyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am that they are currently waiting for the permit of Armenia’s Ministry of Health.

“Psychiatry is at the lowest level in Armenia. Our psychiatrists haven’t developed since the Soviet years. That’s why we have turned to the help of international experts, this being already allowed by the inspector. Now we are waiting for the confirmation of the Ministry of Health so that we can turn to foreign psychiatrists,” the attorney said.

Upon the call of her relatives, Julietta Amarikyan was taken to Armenia’s Avan psychiatric hospital by Ambulance in 2013 to undergo mandatory treatment. She was diagnosed with mental disease in the form of delirium.  Amarikyan was discharged from the psychiatric hospital after 28 days. Criminal case has been filed on the ground of the information presented by Julietta Amarikyan and her attorney. Preliminary investigation is underway.
