A number of Armenian organizations in Australia will hold a one-week campaign in the Armenian community from 22 June to raise funds for the help of Syrian Armenians. According to Horizon Weekly, the organizers of the campaign are ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Armenian National Committee of Australia Board, Armenian Relief Society of Australia Regional Committee, Homenetmen and Hamazkaine Australia Regional Committees and Armenian Youth Federation.
The funds will be raised through a door-knock appeal, the Internet, radiothon, a benefit concert, as well as appeal to businesses. “In recent months, the dangerous situation for the Armenian community living in war-torn Aleppo, Syria has escalated to new heights. The very real threat of bombings and the financial hardship which comes part-and-parcel with any war, are placing heavy burdens on our brothers and sisters in this key Diaspora community,” the organizers said.
