YEREVAN. - Armenia has never changed its foreign policy course, Eduard Sharmazanov, Armenian Parliament Deputy Speaker and spokesperson for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) said in the parliament on Monday.
The leadership of the republic has always stated that the country is ready to deepen the ties with its strategic ally [Russia], as well as Eurasian Union (EEU) states, at the same time continuing the dialogue with the European institutions. On 3 September 2013, Armenia said nothing else but this [when declaring of their intention to join the Eurasian Union].
According to Sharmazanov, Armenia stated the same at the Eastern Partnership Summit held in Riga on 21-22 May 2015, and that of Vilnius in November 2013.
“We entered a 170-millioned market and hit the right path. There are people who say that it could have been better if Armenia didn’t make that decision. No! It would have been twice and even thrice worse. That’s why the decision of the president and the leadership of the country was justified and taken at the right time,” he said.
