YEREVAN. – The Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) Company does not agree with the normative of technological losses in the electricity distribution grids.

The head of Tariff Policy Department at the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), Garegin Baghramyan, stated the aforementioned at Wednesday’s PSRC meeting, as he presented the ENA’s petition to raise the price of electricity in the country.

“Nonetheless, the ENA has not submitted additional arguments, and there are no grounds to question our [i.e. the PSRC’s] [respective] indicator,” Baghramyan added.

In 2014, the ENA’s actual losses amounted to 12.9 percent, and the company itself must pay for the difference with the normative.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission plans to increase the price of electricity for Armenia’s residents by 6.93 drams—instead of 17 drams, proposed by the Electric Networks of Armenia—, per cubic meter. If this decision is approved, however, it is expected to be followed by an increase in the prices of numerous products in the country.
