YEREVAN. - Armenia’s police allowed the ‘No to Plunder’ initiative to stay for night in Liberty Square of capital Yerevan under the condition that the law should be complied with.  Earlier the initiative started a protest against electricity price hike in Armenia and announced a sit-in in Liberty Square.  (PHOTOS)

In permitting the protest, the police took into account its peaceful nature. 

Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valeri Osipyan said it’s not allowed to install forbidden objects, specifically tents in the square, make noise or soil the territory, noting that otherwise the police may use force to restore public order.

The organizers said that their authorized rally finished at 11:00 PM, and now spontaneous sit-in - which the citizens are entitled to - is underway.

As reported earlier, during the protest against electricity price hike, ‘No to Plunder’ initiative suddenly announced that they are launching a 3-day sit-in in the Liberty Square, setting a deadline for the authorities till 19:00 Monday evening. In case the decision on electricity price hike isn’t revoked, they are planning to march to the president’s residence.
