YEREVAN. – Convergence between the West and Iran is not linked to the solution of the problem in terms of tension in the Middle East, expert in Iranian studies Gohar Iskandaryan said.

If the western countries are wise enough, they will use Iran's potential on the matter, the expert believes.

“The Iranian side is sending a message that the country is not in a hurry to reach an agreement on its nuclear program. Until they do not get what they want in the final version, the deal is not concluded. They show that June 30 is not a deadline for them,” she emphasized.

Asked whether deterioration in relations between the West and Russia led to improvement of relations with Iran, Gohar Iskandaryan said that the developments are in two different platforms.

“It should be noted that Iran is carrying out one policy with the West, and another with Russia,” he added.
