PACE President Anne Brasseur said she is following the European Games in Baku, but it does not mean “we should forget about situation with human rights in Azerbaijan.”

The number of people with whom the Council of Europe is working – human right defenders, journalists and the lawyers – are in prison in Azerbaijan, PACE President said during the press conference in Strasbourg on Monday.

“ Before the Games I talked to European Olympic Committee head Patrick Hickey to draw his attention to human rights situation.

The functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan is on the agenda of the PACE summer session.
