YEREVAN. - Russia does not call into question the importance of Iran-Armenian railway, Artur Araqelyan, Armenia’s First Deputy Minister of Transport said in the parliament on Monday.

According to him, the concrete North-South Road, which will also link Armenia with Iran, neither impedes the railway, nor puts it on the back burner. The problem is mainly related to the financial documentation of investments in construction; this formal side will be facilitated if the sanctions on Iran are loosened.

“In any case, progress can also be expected in the railway project. We may make a statement on that,” Araqelyan said.
