YEREVAN. - Ambassador of Armenia to Poland Edgar Ghazaryan had a meeting with Poland’s Economy Minister and Deputy PM Janusz Piechociński on Wednesday.

During the meeting, wide scope of issues on Armenian-Polish economic cooperation was discussed. Deputy PM Piechociński said that Poland attaches great importance to the development of economic ties with Armenia.

According to him, despite the positive trends in the activation of turnover of goods, they are still far from being considered sufficient. According to him, those trends do not correspond to the existing potential. Piechociński especially stressed the sphere of tourism, since, according to him, the rich historical heritage of Armenia greatly attracts the Polish tourists. The foundation of joint companies was mentioned among other important dimensions of cooperation.  

Ambassador Ghazaryan proposed to consider IT sphere as an important direction of cooperation, this sphere developing rapidly enough both in Armenia and Poland. 

Armenian Ambassador drew the Deputy PM’s attention to the important fact that the accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) since 2 January 2015 opens up new opportunities for Polish companies to make investments in Armenia.  

Issues on the cooperation in the sphere of air transportation, as well as organization of further actions of the Armenian-Polish Trade and Economic Commission were also discussed.
