The delegation headed by Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan on Thursday participated in a meeting of the defense ministers of countries contributing to NATO-led mission in Afghanistan that was held at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

The Defence Ministers of NATO and partner countries discussed progress in the implementation of the mission in Afghanistan, the political situation and security issues.

A decision on the transition to the second phase of the mission from 1 May 2016 was made envisaging to limit the presence of NATO.

Seyran Ohanyan confirmed the commitment of the Armenian side to participate in the mission with 131 troops.

The Minister also took part in Germany-initiated meeting which discussed issues of strategic and tactical missions.

On the same day Seyran Ohanyan met with the new Minister of Defence of Georgia Tinatin Khidasheli. Ministers discussed the opportunities and prospects for cooperation in the defense sector, exchanged views on international and regional security.
