YEREVAN. - Audit is a step too late by the authorities, we demand revocation [of the decision on electricity price hike], members of the ‘No to Plunder’ initiative announced during the protest over electricity price hike in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue.

“This is the decision of all of us. We’ll stay in the street unless the decision is revoked. We’re not going to leave the Avenue,” they said. 

Earlier, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan proposed to Maksim Sokolov, Russia’s Minister of Transport and Head of the delegation of Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Russia, to conduct audit in Russian-owned Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC.

Responding to the proposal, Maxim Sokolov noted that the audit of the company’s activity will be organized under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Commission, which will involve experts and representatives of all the parties concerned. The audit will be carried out as openly and transparently as possible so that the audit results are clear and unequivocal for everyone.
