“I’m ending the hunger strike given that squares and streets in Yerevan are filled with people struggling against illegalities,” he said.  

Prior to Sanasaryan’s announcement, member of Barev Yerevan alliance Anahit Bakhshyan asked Davit Sanasaryan on behalf of all the mothers to end his hunger strike. In her speech she said that in the present case there is no need to take such extreme measures.  

Rally convened today against the electricity price hike in Yerevan’s Liberty Square has ended without being followed by a march.

Earlier, Davit Sansaryan had gone on hunger strike, which according to him, was not against the Armenian authorities, but the Armenian citizens. He had announced that he would continue his hunger strike unless the number of people gathered in Liberty Square is enough to confront the police chain when moving to the presidential residence on 26 Baghramyan Avenue.

The police dispersed on Monday the protestors blocking Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue for two weeks. The protestors later gathered in Liberty Square and wanted to hold a march, which the police didn’t allow them to do. Many of the protestors had stayed overnight in Liberty Square.
