YEREVAN. - The new draft Constitution doesn’t raise concerns over the security of the country, RPA spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told Armenian News – NEWS.am today after the RPA Executive body session, responding to the question on one of the provisions of the draft, according to which Armenia’s President will no longer be the commander-in-chief of the country.

“My first impression is that there are no reasons for concerns regarding the security,” Sharmazanov said. He refrained from speaking about President Serzh Sargsyan’s stance on this issue.

According to Sharmazanov, the reduction of the powers of president and expansion of the authorities of the parliament speaker and prime minister are natural in the parliamentary system of government, which Armenia will make a shift to.

“This merely provides an opportunity for better government, government without shocks,” he said.
