YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia—to address the challenges of climate change—is attempting to grow dry-weather-resistant varieties of crops in the country, and which are imported from countries with dry climate.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Garnik Petrosyan, stated the aforesaid at a roundtable discussion.

“We exchange several varieties, obtain variety samples, and these dry-resistant varieties are tested under different climatic conditions of our country.

“We must look to the future so that, in difficult situations, we can have types of crops that will enable to work in these conditions.

“The activities shall be carried out in every way in that direction, so that we also get more dry-resistant types which adapt well and ensure a sustainable harvest in unfavorable conditions,” Petrosyan also specifically noted.
