YEREVAN. - According to Armenia’s Ministry of Transport and Communication, the specialist standing commission, set up upon the order of the Minister of Transport and Communication, is investigating the accident caused by the crash between a freight train belonging to “South Caucasus Railway” CJSC and the car of Manvel Khachatryan, resident of Armenia’s Lori province. The accident happened on 17 July 2015.

Following the examination by the commission, the Ministry of Transport and Communication will issue a statement.

As to the information disseminated via media, according to which the accident was allegedly caused by the absence of turnpikes in the site of accident, the Ministry said the turnpikes were removed back in the 1980s because of the intensive movement of trains. Due to safety concerns, the turnpikes were replaced by warning signs, which regulate the traffic on the road sections crossing the railway.
