YEREVAN. – Street vendors in capital Yerevan still don’t want to move to indoor markets, Arman Yedoyan, Head of Trade and Service Department at Yerevan Municipality, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.
“Everything remains almost the same as a year ago. The conditions have been created, but they don’t want to sell their products [in the markets]. In fact, we have arranged with private companies exploiting the markets to set a much lower fee for the traders, as compared with the one they de facto pay, sitting in the street,” Yedoyan said.
In the framework of Yerevan Municipality’s struggle against the street trade, 34 small agricultural indoor markets were established in all the administrative regions of Yerevan.
