YEREVAN. – Lifting of sanctions against Iran will affect development of relations with neighbors, including Armenia, Ambassador Mohammad Reisi said during a press conference in Yerevan on Friday.

Good relations with Armenia will further improve, the Ambassador added.

Asked about expected high level visits, the diplomat said the visit of Iran's Vice President is expected within a month as a response to PM Hovik Abrahamyan's trip to Tehran. A number of issues, including construction of the third electric transmission line will be discussed.

The Iranian diplomat pointed out a number of projects that have not been implemented, among them are construction of hydro power station on Aras river and North-South road corridor. The Ambassador is confident that Armenia may become a good corridor connecting the Persian Gulf with the Black Sea.

“Construction may take time, but communications have serious meaning for the development of economy,” he noted, adding that investors are needed.

As regards construction of an oil refinery, Ambassador said the Iranian side is ready to participate as an oil supplier if there is a serious investor. The similar answer was given to a question whether Iranian gas may be transported to Europe via Armenia. The sides held talks within the inter-governmental commission, but there must be infrastructure for implementation of the project, he emphasized.
