Translations of the case files on the Russian soldier who brutally killed the Avetisyan family in Armenia’s Gyumri city are underway, Yerem Sargsyan, the victims’ legal successor, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.
According to him, no meeting was held with the attorneys after the Russian side handed the case over to the Armenian Investigative Committee. They were just told that the case files are being translated from Russian into Armenian.
The case consists of 9 volumes, each of which includes 250 pages. After the case files are translated, the attorneys will still need time to familiarize with the files, and make motions, if necessary. Thus, it’s still early to speak of the trial.
Six members of the Avetisyan family—including a two-year-old girl—were shot dead, and a six-month-old baby was wounded in their house in Armenia’s city of Gyumri on January 12. The baby boy died in hospital after a week. Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian Military Base in the city, stands accused in this crime.
