YEREVAN. – The projects which Armenia will implement with Iran need to be planned for the coming years; the Armenian authorities need to set major tasks before them.

Armenia’s opposition Founding Parliament initiative coordinator Garegin Chugaszyan, who is also member of the “Armenian-Iranian Friendship” NGO, stated the aforesaid at Monday’s discussion entitled “Prospect of Armenian-Iranian Strategic Partnership.”

In his conviction, after the signing of the Iran nuclear deal, there will be an opportunity for agreements to be signed also regarding Armenia, and the South Caucasus, in general.

“The role of the South Caucasus increases sharply as a transit area,” stressed Chugaszyan.

He noted that the next ten years are very crucial for Iran and the South Caucasus. In the expert’s view, an Iran-Armenia railway project with a five- to seven-year prospect will be too late.

“The Armenian community in Iran also needs to be used,” added Garegin Chugaszyan. “Armenia has competitive opportunities for implementing projects with Iran.”
