The surface waters of the Caribbean Sea are full of seaweed, and therefore swimming in popular Caribbean resorts has become unpleasant and dangerous.

Even though the exact cause for the seaweed spreading across the Caribbean is still unknown, in all likelihood, warming of the oceans, change in the direction of the currents, and the increase in water chemicals have contributed to this phenomenon.

The summer of 2015 was catastrophic for the Caribbean in terms of the spread of microorganisms.

A variety of seaweed is multiplying in different parts of the Caribbean Sea. 

In addition, fish that are contaminated with toxins also pose a threat to human health.

Researchers, however, are certain that this is a temporary occurrence.
