Berj Apkarian, Fresno’s honorary consul for the Republic of Armenia, will bring a group of 22 doctors to Armenia to provide medical care to rural communities and host a symposium to educate the republic’s medical professionals on the latest technology. The mission is scheduled for October 4-15

Apkarian and the physicians met Wednesday to discuss several issues related to the mission. The group will bring their own medical supplies, equipment and interpreters to Armenia, The Fresno Bee reports.  

The doctors will spend the first nine days offering medical and dental care in small towns, while the final three days will be dedicated to educating Armenian medical professionals for free on the latest treatments for common diseases in Armenia, such as hepatitis and diabetes.
