The situation following the unrest in the Tabadzghour village of Georgia’s Samtskhe-Javakheti region has normalized, village residents told Armenian News – NEWS.am. “The fuss we made seems to have yielded results. There’s no more tension,” the villagers said. The boats confiscated on August 11 were already returned to them.

On August 11, policemen and representatives of Georgia’s Ministry of Ecology banned the villagers to fish in the lake. Only one company owned by Armenian MP Vardan Ayvazyan is officially entitled to do so. As a result of scuffle, the police wanted to arrest several villagers, but the rest blocked the road, preventing this from happening.

Georgian government granted Vardan Ayvazyan a 20-year ownership right over the lake.
