YEREVAN. – The rumors about supplying water to Iran from Armenia’s Lake Sevan are unfounded and absurd.

The Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia, Aramayis Grigoryan, told about the abovementioned to reporters on Tuesday, as he responded to a query on the veracity of respective media reports.

“Naturally, there is and can be no such thing,” stated the minister.

Several days ago, there were media reports claiming that Iran plans to purchase water from the reservoirs of Armenia and Georgia, and to revive Lake Urmia in northwestern Iran.

But head of the research group that studies the avenues for reviving this lake, Masoud Tajrishi, speaking to IRNA, the official news agency of Iran, also had dismissed such rumors.
