The prolongation of Russian military presence in Armenia will secure Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh against war with Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan told reporters on August 19. If the Armenian authorities were able to “set the country on the right path”, it would be not need any foreign military bases.
“Armenia’s first President plundered the country, second President made it ‘oligarchic’ and third is deep in thought. That is, he cannot understand and decide on what radical steps he needs to take to change the present situation,” Sargsyan said.
The Armenian President made the right decision when he agreed to longer-term deployment of the Russian military base in Armenia.
“The Azerbaijani leaders are not only engaged in militant rhetoric, but are also ‘so full’ of promises to get Nagorno-Karabakh back that Armenia has nothing to do but prolong the deployment of the Russian military base in its territory,” Sargsyan said.
