YEREVAN. - To condemn the violence applied against Armenia’s Founding Parliament group supporter Syuzi Gevorgyan, “Armenian Women’s Front” organization today held a flash mob in Yerevan’s Northern Avenue. The flash mob participants walked round the avenue with posters reading “Come home to be beaten up” and “This is Armenia, here you are at home, where “unwritten laws” work.”
“Armenian Women’s Front” organization director Syuzan Simonyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am this case was exclusive in Armenia, since violence had never been applied to women for their political views before.
“Today we will inform the Diaspora Armenians that young men who have arrived in Armenia are subjected to battery for their political views,” Syuzan Simonyan said.
On this occasion, Anush Terterian, who has arrived from Belgium, played violin in Northern Avenue.
“Armenian Women’s Front” will hold the same flash mob in Yerevan’s Republic Square as well.
Two unknown persons ambushed Syuzi Grigoryan, 23, late at night on August 13 and beat her up urging to give up her political activity, otherwise “it will be bad for her.”
According to the activist, she has recently returned from Russia and is a supporter of the “Founding Parliament.” Grigoryan actively informed Diaspora Armenian participants of the Pan-Armenian Games about the disastrous situation in the country, urging them to be the masters of their homeland.
