Participants of “Baze-2015” Pan-Armenian Youth Gathering today hosted Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan.

Welcoming the gathering participants, the Minister said it is during such events that the young people jointly decide on how to focus all their efforts on creating Armenia’s future.

Ohanyan expressed confidence that today's young generation is more educated and will ensure Armenia's development and future in a more experienced way.

He also referred to the army routine, noting that it is organized in special conditions together with carrying out border service, since ths issues with Armenia's neighbours aren't yet completely resolved.

According to Ohanyan, one of the key objectives of the Armenian Army is the increase of military power. Modern military equipment is obtained in the framework of military and technical cooperation, he said.

The Minister also touched on the protection of human rights in the Armenian Armed  Forces, stressing that an objective has been set to make Armenian soldiers aware not only of their obligations, but also their rights.

Referring to the international relations, Ohanyan said Armenia is cooperative; different military exercises show that the Armenian Army is developing and is competitive in the region.

Ohanyan also responded to the participants' questions. Referring to the question on the institute of the Commander-in-Chief, provided by the draft constitutional reforms, he said the defense and security issues are guaranteed by the new Constitution.  

By the end of the meeting, the Youth Gathering Board of Trustees coordinator Karen Avagyan gifted a symbolic falcon statue to the Minister.
