On August 19, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his spouse Rita Sargsyan gave a dinner in honor of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his spouse Svetlana.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the Armenian leadership, all partners for sincere aspiration to strengthen our relations and develop real partner ties connecting our countries,” Russian President said.

He also stressed that the Armenian-Russian relations are really strong. The Russian President pointed out courage of the Armenian firemen who were among the first  to help Russia with wildfires. Medvedev labeled the Armenian-Russian relations as “exemplary”.

On August 19, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his spouse Svetlana Medvedeva arrived on a state visit to Armenia at the invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. Immediately after the aircraft landed in the Zvartnots International Airport, Medvedev left for Tsitsernakaberd where he laid a wreath at the Memorial to Armenian Genocide victims.
