The fact that the Armenian and Russian Presidents met for 8 times in 2010 testifies to special partner relations between the states and friendly relations of the leaders, RF President Dmitry Medvedev told a press conference in Yerevan.

He thanked his Armenian counterpart for warm reception and warm, not hot weather. Medvedev stated that the leaders had discussed issues on bilateral cooperation in almost all fields – energy, transport, trade, science and education. He noted that Russia’s investments in Armenia’s economy and trade turnover have recently increased.  “It testifies to gradual recovery of the countries from global crisis,” he noted.

Dmitry Medvedev also pointed out cooperation within the framework of EurAsEC and implementation of various programs in this context. He also stated that diversification of trade cooperation to assist Armenia’s economic development was discussed. Medvedev invited Armenian businessmen to get involved in the Russian projects.

The Russian leader drew attention to cooperation in communication field, taking into account importance of the mentioned sphere for Armenia. “It depends not only on us, but our neighbors as well,” he emphasized, adding that financial aspect is also important.

The RF President touched upon countries’ cooperation in the construction of a new power unit in Armenia. Russia is an active player in the regional nuclear energy sector and is ready to work in a friendly state, he added.

Dmitry Medvedev appreciated cooperation prospects in education and science, as well as opportunity to implement various programs in these fields.
