Russia will never give direct answer on its actions in case hostilities resume in the Karabakh conflict zone, Russian State Duma MP Konstantin Zatulin told NESW.am.

He stressed that not only Yerevan and Stepanakert but Baku is also much concerned about the issue. According to him, one should not expect Russia’s direct answer to this question, as any response will deteriorate Moscow’s relations with one of the conflicting parties. Besides, Russia as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing state cannot give such answers, he added. Konstantin Zatulin believes that it is better to analyze the facts instead of seeking straight answers to straight questions. The MP considers that CSTO informal summit held in Yerevan and Dmitry Medvedev’s state visit to Armenia, during which a protocol prolonging Russia’s presence in Armenia was signed, speaks for itself and gives answers to many questions.

In the course of his visit to Armenia Medvedev stressed that Russia will honor its commitments to Armenia within the CSTO, commenting on country’s moves in case the hostilities resume.
