It’s pleasant [to hear] that Russia remains Armenia’s leading trade and economic partner, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting with Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan, the official Kremlin website reports.

According to Putin, as compared to 2013, commodity turnover between the two countries significantly increased last year, but “unfortunately the trend began to deccline during the first 6 month of the current year.” “Perhaps we will talk about this today as well. There are certain nuances regarding which I have no answers yet; I’d like to discuss these issues with you,” Putin said.  

According to him, although the presidents of both countries regularly meet and talk on phone, there are still issues to discuss, given the special nature of relations between Russia and Armenia, Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union and its full-format participation in another integration institute, namely the CSTO.
