YEREVAN. – Armenia's rail network has become incomparably safer over last three years, Director General of South Caucasus Railways CJSC Viktor Rebets said during a meeting of the council on safety of railway transport.

The council brought together railway experts from CIS countries and the Baltic states.

Back in 2009 the company registered 96 cases of derailment and only nine in 2014, Rebets said.

The South Caucasus Railways is a 100% subsidiary of the Russian Railways Company and manages Armenian railways on concession. The contract is signed for 30 years in 2008 with 10 years of possible prolongations.
