YEREVAN. – As of 2016, the repair of trains in Armenia may be in line with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification.

Deputy director of the Safety Department of the Russian Railways company, Alexander Kosarev, stated the aforesaid at the meeting—in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan—of the Railroad Transportation Safety Board.

As per Kosarev, the corporate certification of this domain was launched in Russia this year, and next year it will pass also to the South Caucasus Railway (SCR) CJSC.

“It’s based on the standards of the ISO family, and it’s very modern,” noted the Russian Railways official. “The licensing of goods and services is already specified by our law, and the safety management system will appear there for the first time.”

To note, the SCR is the 100-percent subsidiary of the Russian Railways company, and it manages the Armenian railways on concession. The respective contract was signed for thirty years back in 2008, and with a possible extension for ten years.
