YEREVAN. - “Menk” youth initiative held the last fundraising in support of Samvel Avetisyan in Yerevan’s Northern Avenue today. Avetisyan, 22, got a firearm wound in his spinal section in the army in 2012, after which he hasn’t been able to walk, being confined to wheelchair for already 3 years.

After treatment Samvel Avetisyan wishes to return to Armenia, study and help other people with special needs, who are in need of help like him.

“Menk” initiative co-founder Arman Andreasyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am this has been already the third fundraising they organized for Samvel.

“In Germany, Samvel Avetisyan’s treatment expenses will be born by the ICRC, but he needs Euro 10,000 for travel costs, accommodations in Germany and preliminary examinations. We have already collected Euro 6500 and hope to collect lacking 3500 Euro during this fundraising,” Arman Andreasyan said.

“I hope this will be the last fundraising and I’ll soon be able to walk,” Sanvel told Armenian News – NEWS.am.  

During the event, singers and dance groups performed national songs and dances. Flyers with Samvel’s account number were also distributed to the citizens.

In case of receiving treatment in Germany, there’s 80-90 per cent possibility that Samvel will start walking again.
