YEREVAN. - “No to Constitutional Reforms” civic initiative will struggle against the amendments to the country’s Constitution by all the means stipulated by the Basic Law, initiative member Ara Poghosyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am at the public discussion convened in Yerevan’s Liberty Square today. He also said they had no difficulty in focusing all their resources in the square.
Poghosyan said the “No to Constitutional Reforms” initiative will join all the other recently formed initiatives if need arises to mobilize the society. According to him, besides a group of young men, they will also be joined by other citizens.
“These are not our entire resources; this is only a public discussion. Currently we don’t aim to carry out a public mobilization here, but gather people, who will express their opinions,” he said, ignoring the fact that the number of those gathered could hardly make up 20 people.
According to Poghosyan, their objective is to withdraw the draft constitutional amendments from the agenda by methods, which they will decide on after public discussions and awareness actions.
He also said that the faultiest sides of the new Constitution are the provisions on the establishment of the government and the judicial system.
