Famous French politician of Armenian descent, former Minister Patrick Devedjian was criticized for his statement about refugees.
Referring to the refugees, whom France agreed to receive from Germany, Devedjian said that Germany "took our Jews and gave us Arabs," France-Presse reports.
Later Devedjian had to backtrack, writing on his Twitter page that it was a misplaced humorous jest.
The politician also said he regretted it all the more because he himself helps refugees in need.
