YEREVAN. - One shouldn’t think about what trunk channels Azerbaijan is going to procure, we should buy them ourselves, Vice President of “Internet Society of Armenia” NGO Grigori Saghyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am, referring to the information reported by the Georgian newspaper “Kviris Palitra” on the plans of the Azerbaijani Internet provider Azeronline to procure 1200 km optical network served by the Georgian Caucasus Online provider.
“Construction of a new backbone cable is underway now. It will pass from Middle Asia to Azerbaijan and Georgia via the Caspian Sea, and from there to Europe via the Black Sea. The project must be owned by some international consortium. Thus, it’s necessary to agree with someone and just construct our own line,” Saghyan said.
