YEREVAN. - Armenia’s draft constitutional reforms are superfluously politicized, Armenian parliament Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan said at the parliamentary session today.  

She said that the report on the state of democracy in members-states had recently been discussed at the PACE Monitoring Committee session in Paris. The point expressing concern over democracy in Armenia was one of the shortest among the list of other countries.

“The report only mentioned that the discussions are strongly politicized. I think we’ll agree with this. Instead of discussing the essence, we start blaming each other, shifting to a personal level,” Naghdalyan said.

She also said the PACE Monitoring Group co-rapporteurs on Armenia Axel Fischer and Alan Mill visited Armenia in late June, noting that Armenia is ready to significantly expand the rights of national minorities, as well as the protection of human rights.
