YEREVAN. - Armenia’s Ministry of Finance will soon discuss a bill on new excise tax rates, Armenia’s Finance Minister Gagik Khachatryan said in the parliament today.

According to him, the Eurasian Union states are discussing the national excise rates, since they are going to harmonize them by 2020. “We’ll soon complete the stage of bill discussion,” Khachatryan said.

The bill on increasing the excise tax was adopted in June 2015 during the first reading, but both the opposition and the MPs spoke against it.

The bill stipulates increase of excise tax on cigarettes, vodka, petrol and diesel fuel, as well as imposing excise tax on pressurized oil gas.
