YEREVAN. – The “Survey for Seismic Protection” Agency of Armenia does not foresee any earthquakes in the country in the near future, said agency head Hrachya Petrosyan, at a press conference on Thursday.

“At the moment, there are no anomalies that can cause concern and indicate a strong earthquake,” noted Petrosyan.

He informed that 117 quakes have been recorded in Armenia so far this year, but solely five of them had measured 3 to 5 magnitude.

“These numbers are normal, numerous earthquakes occur constantly, [and] people don’t feel most of them,” added Hrachya Petrosyan. “They are considered our seismic catalog, which helps in seismic regime analysis and seismic risk assessment.”
