Turkey has turned to UNESCO wit a request to include Van Fortress in the World Heritage List.
According to Muzaffer Aktuğ, the head of Van’s Culture and Tourism Department, the inclusion of Van Fortress in the UNESCO World Heritage List will bring great recognition and benefit to the city, the Turkish newspaper Radikal writes.
In its address to UNESCO, Turkey underscores the necessity to recognize the fortress and the Armenian district of Van as a world heritage.
